Manus, this is fascinating and so well written. I love the imaginative leap from Perekop to Dallas! Münnich broke the Perekop line in (I think 1736) and Limerickman Peter Lacy would bypass the Perekop or Or-Kapi line by crossing along the Arabat Spit in 1737 and by wading across the Sivash in 1738.

Thanks! I didn’t know about the 18th century stuff. If it arises again in the near future (though at this point i doubt it), the Ukrainian military will have to study these historical examples
